The final southeast region race of the year was held at VIR. This was the teams first race since the problems at Barber in August. The repaired rear suspension left the ride height too low and caused problems. Morning practice went fine with time spent re-learning the tricky circuit. Times improved in the second session and it was anticipated that when the race came we could run a reasonable pace. The first race of the day was middleweight sportsman. Entering the first turn at race speed the problems with the rear suspension became apparent as everything on the right side was dragging. The rest of the race was ridden catiously as the problems became more evident at race speed. Several times the rear wheel was lifted of the ground while dragging hard parts.

The Lightweight race followed after a short break. The only adjustments we were able to make during the short break was to adjust rear preload. The problems continued in the race and John decided to just ride cautious and finish the season on the track.

A new rear shock and dogbones have been ordered. This should fix the problem

Track day with NESBA

A great way to end the season. Camped with other CCS racers and had a great time riding and socializing. New exhaust and jetting worked great. New suspension worked better but still could use a little more ride height. Changes to riding technique helped with corner speed and clearance. Plenty of time to play with things over the winter now.

Next seasons planned events will be posted when the schedule and new classes are finalized.

Season Results

The season is now over. Results were second in Lightweight sportsman and sixth in middleweight. My performance index in lightweight was just below 500, (0 means you always finish last, 1000 means you always win). That means I finished mid-pack on average. Not bad for the first year. In middleweight it was 321 so average finish was lower middle of the group. See the points page for the full run down. Much was learned and maybe we can shave some seconds off the laps next year.
